The Pride VivaLift!® Ultra PLR-4955S is the Small size of the Ultra — designed for users 5'4" and below, with an 18" seat-to-floor height, 20" seat width, and 18" seat depth. The Ultra combines VivaLift!® Tilt technology, three-zone heat, and an advanced air bladder massage system in one chair — a combination not found in any lower-tier Pride lift chair. True-infinite positioning, power headrest, power lumbar, footrest extension, a hideaway wireless phone charger, hideaway cup holder, and lithium battery backup are all standard. Heat and massage controls are on the inside of the left armrest for easy access without hunting for the remote. Available in Capriccio fabric — Cappuccino, Dove, Slate, Smoke — in all three sizes. The Ultra Small is for shorter users — 5'4" and under — who want the full VivaLift!® feature stack without the compromises of a medium-size chair. At 18" seat-to-floor, this is the right seat height for a shorter user's feet to rest flat and their knees to sit at 90 degrees. The 15" wall clearance needed for full recline is the same as the Medium, making it as space-efficient as a chair with this range of motion can be. The only feature limitation vs. the Medium and Large is fabric — the Trento and Sorrento leather options aren't available on the Small, which is Capriccio only.
Standard recliners and even most infinite-position chairs lean the back away from vertical. VivaLift!® Tilt works differently — it changes the pivot point of the recline so the entire chair geometry shifts, elevating the knees above the heart rather than simply tilting the back. The result is a genuinely zero-gravity position that reduces circulatory pressure on the legs, decompresses the lumbar spine, and creates the sensation of weightlessness that's difficult to achieve in conventional recline. A dedicated Tilt button on the remote activates this position directly, separate from the regular recline control. One programmable memory button can save your preferred Tilt angle so you can return to it with a single press. The Ultra includes three heating pads — shoulders, lumbar, and seat — and an advanced air bladder massage system focused on the lower back with three intensity settings. What's different from most heated recliners is where the controls live: heat and massage buttons are on the inside of the left armrest, not just on the hand remote. This means you can adjust heat or massage without picking up the remote, reaching across the chair, or locating a control you may have set down. Standard recline leans the back away from upright. VivaLift!® Tilt shifts the entire geometry of the chair so that your knees are elevated above your heart — a true zero-gravity position. This changes how your weight is distributed, reduces circulatory pressure on the lower extremities, decompresses the lumbar spine, and creates a feeling of weightlessness most users describe as significantly more restful than standard recline. A dedicated Tilt button on the remote activates this position directly.
The Ultra has three heating pads — shoulders, lumbar, and seat — each independently adjustable. The air bladder massage system provides gentle lower-back pressure through inflation and deflation at three intensity settings. Heat and massage controls are on the inside of the left armrest so you can adjust them without picking up the remote. This placement is particularly useful when reclined, when the remote may be out of easy reach.
Trento (Brown and Charcoal) is available in Medium and Large only. Sorrento 100% American leather (Coffee) is available in Medium only. These are manufacturer fabric restrictions, not something we can override. The Small is Capriccio fabric only in Cappuccino, Dove, Slate, or Smoke. Both have three-zone heat (shoulders, lumbar, seat) and true-infinite positioning. The Ultra adds two things the Radiance doesn't have: VivaLift!® Tilt technology (knees above heart) and an air bladder massage system. The Ultra also includes a wireless charging station, while the Radiance has a wireless charger as well. The Radiance's memory remote offers two programmable positions vs. one on the Ultra. If Tilt and massage are important to you, the Ultra is the right step up. If you primarily want heat and infinite positioning at a lower price point, the Radiance covers those needs well.
